At the committee hearing:

The House Committee on Education and the Workforce will please come to order.

Today we will hold a hearing on HR 666 to increase the minimum wage.  Our first witness is M_. ___, representing the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  You will each have five minutes to present your position on this bill, followed by ten minutes of questions.

M_., ___, you may proceed.

[After his prepared statement] Does any member wish to question the witness?

Thank you.  Your time has expired.  Our second witness is M_., ___, representing the AFL-CIO. [Proceed as with the first witness.]

This hearing is hereby adjourned.  We will convene tomorrow at ___ to mark up HR 666.

At the markup:

The House Committee on Education and the Workforce will please come to order.

Today we will markup HR 666, a bill to increase the minimum wage.  Each member will now have 30 seconds to make an opening statement.  Does any member wish to speak?

Does any member wish to offer an amendment? [Mark and use overhead transparencies to show the amendment.]

Is there any debate on this amendment?
