Unit 7
Members iron out the final details of a piece of legislation
in a mark-up
session during which the legislation is gone over line by
line. Proponents suggest amendments (see Strategies
and Power Plays) in an attempt to create a coalition of supporters
large enough to get subcommittee, committee, and chamber approval.
A bill usually dies without subcommittee approval.
